“One test of the correctness of educational procedure is the happiness of the child.”

The Children’s House

Montessori classrooms for children ages 3 to 6 are called Children's Houses and are named after Maria Montessori's first school, the Casa dei Bambini. Montessori environments worldwide are unique in that they are designed to help the whole child develop by allowing them to explore their own interests with the help of a teacher or “guide.” The environment itself is well-ordered, peaceful, engaging, and encouraging.

Everything is designed to meet the child’s interests. Mixed-age grouping helps the children learn mastery, expand their learning from concrete concepts to abstract, and develop leadership skills. The result of a Montessori education is a happy, self-confident, and independent learner. In Montessori schools, we help the children learn and grow to be individuals with a sense of wonder and appreciation.

  • The environment is outfitted to be accessible so that the child feels a deep sense of belonging. All furnishings, fixtures, and activities are at their level. The classroom is truly theirs.

  • The teacher initially presents our activities, after which your child may select freely as their interests dictate.

  • Our teachers guide and consult students individually, letting each child create their learning pathway.

  • The activities in a Children's House consist of hands-on materials that help the child learn concepts.

The subjects that the children are exposed to are interdependent and help forge the way for better connections to information in our world.

  • The children learn real-life skills, which is the pathway to independence and self-confidence in our practical life area.

  • Our sensorial curriculum is designed to help children broaden and refine their senses. This helps them learn with better awareness and logic.

  • In the language area, the child learns how to write, read, and put into use concepts of grammar sensorially and builds to complex concepts.

  • In math, the child learns numeration and math concepts that will help them throughout their entire school experience. The foundation for math is unique and lends to a very firm understanding of how numbers work in addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division. They understand how place value works by seeing it and feeling it with their hands.

  • Our cultural area truly opens the world to children. They learn botany, zoology, geology, geography, and history.

Montessori education is truly an “aid to life.”

The best way to understand how a Montessori education can benefit your child is by seeing it in action.
